Understanding Email Security and Spam Protection
At Zeniar, we take email security seriously. We use multiple layers of spam protection to ensure only legitimate and safe emails reach your inbox. While these measures are in place to keep you protected, they can occasionally prevent certain emails from being delivered if they don't meet our security requirements.
What Can Prevent an Email from Being Delivered?
DMARC (Domain-based Message Authentication, Reporting & Conformance) DMARC is an email validation system designed to protect domains from email spoofing. Zeniar requires all incoming emails to have a valid DMARC configuration. If an email doesn't meet this requirement, it may be blocked from reaching your inbox.
SPF (Sender Policy Framework) SPF is an authentication method that helps prevent spammers from sending emails on behalf of a domain. Zeniar checks the SPF record of every incoming email, and if it fails the SPF check, the email won't be delivered.
Spamhaus Blacklist Zeniar uses the Spamhaus DNS Blacklist (zen.spamhaus.org) to filter out emails from known spam sources. If an email you're expecting comes from a domain listed on this blacklist, it will be blocked by our system.
What to Do If You're Not Receiving an Email
- Visit the Spamhaus lookup tool at https://check.spamhaus.org
- Enter the sender's domain name in the search box (this is the part after the @ in their email address)
- If the domain is listed, the email is likely being blocked by our spam protection
- Let the sender know their domain may be flagged as a potential spam source and ask them to contact their email provider to resolve the issue
By following these steps, you can quickly check whether a sender's domain is being blocked. If it is, the sender will need to work with their email provider to have the listing removed so their emails can reach your inbox.
